The Best Homemade Pizza : How To

Hey, everyone! I’m want to share with you another one of my favorite things to do with my family when we go to Arizona. And maybe even one of the best appliances that not nearly enough people know about. Whenever we go visit my sister in law in Arizona, we try to always throw in a “build your own pizza” party. Making homemade pizza is such a fun way to do dinner with bigger groups. It’s so interactive and easy for both the kids and adults and no one ever feels like they’re stuck in the kitchen doing all the work.

Tips and Tricks For How To Make The Best Homemade Pizza

I wanted to share with of all the tips and tricks we have learned in order to make it easy for everyone to do at home.  First of all, let’s talk about the oven. I used to think you had to have a wood burning pizza oven to make pizza taste as good as in the restaurants. Then we were introduced to the BLACKSTONE OUTDOOR PIZZA OVEN. This oven is so cost efficient, runs off of propane, only takes about 15 minutes to heat up and is even portable.

The Ingredients

The first thing we do to make our lives easier is chop and prep all of our ingredients ahead of time.  Sometimes even a day ahead of time. We just put them in meal prep containers that stack easily in the fridge and they’re ready to go when we need them.

The Dough

If you have a great recipe, make it. If not or you’re in a rush, buy it! Most pizza restaurants will sell you dough balls for $1-3, they are usually big and can sometimes be cut in half for two pizza’s.

You’re going to want to set the dough out so that it can get to room temperature.  It’s really hard to roll out cold dough. It will just keep shrinking back on you.  I usually wrap my dough in Saran Wrap so they don’t dry out and set them out maybe an hour ahead of time. When it’s ready to roll,  put some flour on your surface and on your rolling pin so it doesn’t stick. Then roll.

Next up, getting your WOODEN PIZZA PEEL ready. You’re gonna want to spread a generous amount of cornmeal on your pizza peel. This way you can put your flattened dough on the pizza peel and it will just slide off when you put it in your oven.

Top and Bake

Now to top! Once you’re rolled, flattened and have placed the dough on the pizza peel you can start topping.  Finally, you just slide your pizza onto the pizza stone in the oven. We usually let it bake for about 5 minutes with the oven temperature anywhere between 400-450 degrees. When your cheese is bubbly and golden, use a METAL PIZZA PEEL to remove it.

And that’s it!  I always have people ask what my favorite pizza combos are also, so I went ahead and made a MENU that you can print off for reference if that helps. I’d love to hear if you decide to try it.  If you do, please tag me in your stories so I can see what you came up with!
