As moms, we want our children to have the opportunity each day to eat enough to help them grow and allow their bodies and brains to fully develop. So what exactly is food insecurity? It means the lack of consistent access to food to maintain a healthy life. Over 40 million American’s are affected by this and we can all do our part to help!
Walmart has joined Feeding America® for the 6th year in a row to Fight Hunger, Spark Change! This program secures nutritious meals for those in need. How does it work? When we shop at Walmart and buy 1 of the select items listed HERE ,the manufacturer will donate $0.10 to Feeding America® – enough to secure at least 1 meal on help secure a meal on behalf of local food banks.
I found 4 items from Walmart’s select list and created tacos for our family: Uncle Ben’s 60 Second Spanish Rice, McCormick Taco Seasoning, Pace Picante Mild Chunky Salsa and Bubly Lime Sparkling Water (we buy this regularly). Many of the items listed are items you most likely buy anyway, they make it simple to help give back!
POBLANO PICO de GALLO TACOS
INGREDIENTS
1 Poblano Pepper – washed, seeded and finely chopped
2 cups Cherry Tomatoes – washed and halved
1/2 Red Onion, finely chopped
2-3 limes – squeezed and the zest of one lime
1 bunch Cilantro – chopped
Salt/Pepper/Garlic Salt to taste
- mix all together and chill in your refrigerator while you prepare the rest of your taco
1lb Lean Ground Beef
1 packet McCormick Taco Seasoning
- combine the two in a saucepan and cook through

DIRECTIONS
Let everyone create their own tacos. Double the recipe for leftovers! That’s it!
