WEEKLY UPDATE
JEFF & LISA:
We knew we needed a new roof when we bought our home. Almost three years later we are checking it off our list. It’s been a debate for us deciding to finish the inside or start on the outside and then come back and finish the inside. Ideally getting the inside done first would be great, but we also don’t want our neighbors, kids friends and delivery drivers to think we live in a meth lab…so we are going to get the outside started as well:). When we get the outside finished or close to finished I’ll show you what the before looked like. I think you’ll enjoy it, haha!
Every time we have to pay for something big (like a roof) along with normal day to day living I think of my parents and how growing up I never realized the sacrifices they made raising a family. I’m not saying a roof is any sort of sacrifice, it’s a necessity. I am saying until I had children, especially teenagers and owned a home I couldn’t fully appreciate the childhood my parents gave me and my siblings. One thing I really admire is that my parents never, ever discussed money or argued in front of us. I think in my 19 years of living it at home, I heard them argue twice. I also heard my dad swear twice, both were directed at me..#whoops
AVERY & POPPY:
These girls know how to get out of school “hey mom, we should go to Disneyland this week” ” hey mom, if I stay home today I can watch Ozzy while you’re at meetings” SOLD. I swear by the end of the school year I am just as over sending them to school as they are going to school. Especially when it’s already summer for our friends and cousins who come to visit.
Disneyland was way fun with everyone! I had meetings in La Jolla that morning so we didn’t get there until after 2 and stayed till 9:30. It was the perfect amount of time. Living in Southern California, annual Disneyland passes are the only way to go. No guilt staying for just a few hours, you can always come back. Ozzy loved the Nemo ride, like LOVED it! It was cute to see her get excited about things she saw and heard.
GOLDIE & OZZY:
Goldie lives for end of year festivities. You know how schools like to cram 943 recitals, teacher appreciation week, parties, art shows, open house, Olympic day and bake sales into the last month? I dread it all and Goldie can’t get enough of the action! Do you remember when Ozzy had clogged tear ducts and constant weeping eyes? We took her to a specialist about 5 months ago. She prescribed us a ointment and it cleared everything up. Her eyes looked great for the last several months and now they are back to being congested and swollen. We know she is allergic to milk and soy, I think I need to take her in for a full allergy test and see what else she’s allergic to.
ps. scroll to the bottom see images of dresses, jumpsuits, shoes, etc. Leave a comment and tell me if you prefer to SHOP this way OR if you like them listed out in text form with a link in bold. I have been playing around with both and might mix/match when this site is redesigned. For those who just want direct links in story, I do several of those per week. However, my main goal isn’t to make quick money. I spend hours on these blog posts and writing them with proper SEO, etc provide longevity to my business. So even though that frustrates a handful of you, I try to do what’s best for my family, longterm.
Thank you for your support here on Salty Lashes. When I see how quickly this site has grown in such a short period of time, I am truly humbled. Thank you!

I always get questions about my rings. Many are vintage turquoise. My GOLD CUFF is Jame Michelle – AQUAMARINE is Amy Gregg – some of my stacking bands are Maya Brenner and Marrow Fine. Wedding bands are custom from Jeff. I also have some Simon G.
I love reading your posts on salty lashes. It’s fun to read about your lives and it keeps me updated on your family! Love you guys! ????
Thanks for reading them!
Love to shop this way. Much easier than the links in bold!
Thanks for responding!
Love your posts! I definitely prefer to shop off pictures like you have above versus just a listed set of descriptions. Or somehow a combination of both?
I think there needs to be a combination of both when I have the time to do both. I get a lot of messages thanking me for listing items out in text and I’ve had several that are frustrated and don’t want to take the time to read a post to find out what I am wearing. Trying to figure out how to benefit everyone. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question!
I am sure some would appreciate both but it may be a hassle for you. If you have time for just 1 format, I vote for pics only with prices or quick comments. “My faves” or “40% off for 48 hours!”
I really love this way of posting links… way more apt to click and look if the pic looks even a little interesting.
Ooohhhh I like having the pictures to click on! I’m a visual person so seeing the item prior to clicking is great! Love your site!
I like the pictures best!
I love the links you provide! I think it’s super helpful when looking for exactly what you posted. I just got the dress Avery is wearing in this post and wore it for the first time yesterday….sooo comfortable! Definitely going to be a go to this summer!
Love reading your blog!! And love shopping this way! I like seeing the pictures! ❤️
I adore the new way to shop! Makes it so much easier 🙂
I love the pictures. It’s like window shopping, I need to SEE it. But that’s doesn’t surprise me, I’m a visual person! As a side note, what do you use to display the pictures? Is it RewardStyle?
Love the pics!!! It’s nice to know what product you are going to before you click!
I love hearing your thoughts about each piece. Size, fit, and just how desperately you (I) need it. Especially helpful on your product posts like skincare. I typically read through these at night. But when I just want to look for a specific item, I scroll to the bottom and look through the images. Visuals win for instant gratification, but I always end up reading through the explanations.
I totally agree with you. I know from analytics that text links convert better than a image.
Pictures 🙂 thanks for posting all the sales and alll your amazing outfits!
I think it’s much easier to shop with the pictures versus the text in my opinion. I also like that I am able to see the cost as well. Thank you!
I love the photos- easier to know what you’re clicking on. On the flip side, when you list it out in text I find myself shopping around on sites more not knowing exactly what I’m clicking on. Love your style!
Love the photos – much easier!
I read your blog all the time! Images are always perfection! ( I have been a photostylist for 18 yrs) Content is always interesting! The images are definitely an easier way to shop around. I also love when you show things you want or have on order…. I do the same on my Instagram account. I look forward to your posts daily. You definitely inspire me
I love when you post this way! It’s so much easier for me. You’re one of the few bloggers I keep up with and I love your posts and I’m glad you still post this way along with stories!
I also like to see the pictures! So much easier to find what I’m looking for.
Love the format today – having the pictures in your blog posts makes them so much more useable. When it’s written in text with hyperlinks on the bold words, honestly I end up skipping the post more often than not. It takes too long to click every linked word and not knowing if it’s something I’m even interested in (having to click “blind”) feels frustrating. Big vote for today’s format !
I love seeing the images like you posted here because it’s easier to decide if i like it enough or not to click on the link. However, when you post the links in bold I like seeing what you’ve said you bought and tried. And when you post the link in bold, i click through more items. Thanks!! Love your blog!!!
Love this format!! So easy to get to the ones I want!! Your blog is the only one I care to follow and love your style. You’ve led me to some of my most favorite articles of clothing. ❤️❤️
love following you and your sweet family! My fave blog—you have the best style and I love that you let us in to all parts of your life, not just your clothes. I prefer to shop via pictures 🙂
love the pictures to shop from! also, LOVE seeing your daughters in blog posts. keep up the good work. I adore your blog and your family. for what it’s worth, I think it’s incredibly smart you have everyone shop through your blog and not just an instagram swipe. I get it 😉
I’m with several of the others who’ve already responded, and I like having the pictures to shop by. I too agree that it’s a visual thing. I like being able to see the item right from the get go.
I like to shop the pictures! I like to look at what I think is cutest and clicking over it to see if it’s something that’s in the budget for me is a really nice added feature.
LOVE this way!! Super easy to shop
Either format works! Love your picks!
I am surprised to find that I like the text better! It took some getting used to when I first became a reader, but now I really value it. I like being able to go to your blog and read what you have to say about the products! If I wanted to shop just pictures, I could just browse Nordstrom’s site or view sponsored ads on Instagram! Haha. But, either way, you’ve got great style and share awesome sales, so it’s a win!
Love to shop the photos as I know exactly what something is before I click on it. However, the text with the link in bold is helpful too as you tend to provide good info about the items.
Overall, I would say the photos are more helpful. If I am having a super busy day and see something cute you are wearing on Instagram I can find it much faster in your post.
I love the photos! To be honest with just the bold I’m sometimes not sure where exactly I’m going! Love reading your site and am GLAD you don’t do too many swipe up links because it makes me take a break in my day to really read your awesome content! Thank you!
Following all of your social channels- love the MZ Wallace bags you’ve showed!
i definitely prefer the pictures!! thank you!
Love this new way to shop!! SO SO great!!
So many good choices! I love them all! I like this new look! It seems user friendly. It’s fun to read about your family too! Xoxo
Damn! You look so pretty in this jumpsuit. The color is just love. Can’t wait to get it for me. Great stuff, thanks for sharing.
