Treats for Valentine’s Day – Rice Krispie Hearts

Ingredients

3 TBSP Butter

4 Cups Mini Marshmallows

6 Cups Rice Krispies Cereal

12 oz. Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips

12 oz. White Chocolate Chips

Red food coloring

Variety of Valentine’s Day sprinkles (love these PINK & WHITE SPRINKLES or these HEART ONES)

Heart-shaped cookie cutter

Directions:

Butter or spray an 11×17 glass pan. You can also line a pan with wax paper for easier clean up.

In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, add in the mini marshmallows & stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.

Add in the rice krispies and stir until well coated. Then, press mixture into the glass pan and let cool.

Once the rice krispies have cooled, use a 2-3 inch heart shaped cookie cutter and cut the treats into hearts.

Begin to melt your chocolates. In a microwave safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave (30 seconds at a time, mixing in between) until smooth.

Dip half of one of the heart shaped Rice Krispies into the melted chocolate. Lay the dipped hearts onto a piece of parchment paper. Before the chocolate cools, sprinkle Valentine’s sprinkles onto the hearts!

Repeat with the white chocolate. You can also add in a little bit of red, pink or purple food coloring to create pink & red tones! I’ve seen people also swirl together multiple food coloring to the frosting for a tie dye effect. Another cute idea would be to add the hearts onto a stick, wrap in cellophane & tie with a cute Valentine’s Day ribbon!
