Trader Joe’s Carne Asada

One of the easiest meals I make are my Trader Joe’s
Carne Asada Taco’s! Sometimes we substitute the steak for chicken or pork, but the rest of the ingredients remain the same. I buy 80% of my groceries at Trader Joe’s, the rest from Costco. I’m lucky enough to have both just a couple miles away from my home, so I take full advantage. This dinner takes a total of 15 mins start to finish, it’s simple and incredibly delicious.

Having 4 kids requires a quick, easy & yummy dinner to feed them after a day of play, school & sports. The pre-marinated meat from Trader Joe’s never disappoints is so delicious and great to keep frozen on hand. This Carne Asada is an easy recipe for busy families on the go with quick prep, quick cook time & easy cleanup. It takes me 20 minutes to cook this meal!

HOW TO MAKE TRADER JOE’S CARNE ASADA

INGREDIENTS:

1 package Corn & Wheat Tortilla’s (try them!)

1 package of pre-marinated Carne Asada

Avocado

Limes

Cilantro

1 container of Mango Slaw (if your TJ’s doesn’t carry this, I substitute with shredded lettuce, pico and the Cilantro dressing from THIS post. I could drink it. Actually, I have..) OR if you want to try and make this mango slaw at home it’s a mixture of cabbage, jicama, mangos all finely sliced and topped with chopped cilantro. The dressing is a mix of rice wine vinegar, olive oil, lime juice, a dash of mango (or orange) juice, garlic and crushed red pepper (just a bit)

DIRECTIONS:

Pre-head your grill or grill pan on high heat. I’ve used STOVETOP GRILL PAN for years and LOVE it! Once heated add your carne asada. Now this meat is sliced thin, so it cooks quick! I like mine slightly pink so -4-5 mins per side is all. While the meat is cooking on the front half, add a couple tortillas to the back and heat, about 45 secs per side. Once the meat it done remove and let rest on a cutting board, about 5 mins. Slice nice and thin! It’s that simple!

HOW TO SERVE IT

Typically I’ll take the tortilla straight off the grill and add a little cheddar cheese for Goldie and then some of the carne asada meat and avocado. For everyone else, I remove the tortilla from the grill and place a few pieces of meat and top with mango slaw, diced avocado, chopped cilantro, sour cream and a squeeze of lime. If I’m not in the mood for a taco, I’ll substitute the tortilla for spinach. I love it equally as much as I do a taco.

I get so excited every time I share this recipe, because I know it will be loved! It’s a fantastic family meal, but easy enough to cook up for a crowd when throwing a party! My girls love to help cook this recipe as well. I love how you can spruce up the tacos in any way you’d like. Plus, this meat makes for fantastic leftovers! You can use it in burrito bowls, breakfast burritos, with eggs or on a salad for lunch the next day!
