Red cabbage is so crispy and has an amazing color, especially once it is pickled! I can’t even tell you how easy this recipe is. It is hassel-free and can last up to 2 weeks in your fridge when stored in a sealed jar.
This pickled red cabbage recipe is awesome! It is so easy. My favorite is to add this pickled red cabbage onto my favorite TRADER JOE’S CARNE ASADA TACO RECIPE! It also goes great on burgers, salads and slaws!
How To Pickle Red Cabbage:
The process is super simple! You can use a sharp knife or to get even slices I recommend a MANDOLIN SLICER! Once the head of cabbage is shredded you place in a large bowl. Whisk together the water, vinegar and sugar until the sugar is mostly dissolved and pour over cabbage. Then mix in salt, pepper, garlic and bay leaves.

PICKLED RED CABBAGE RECIPE
INGREDIENTS
¼ of a Red Cabbage, shredded
½ Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
½ Cup Water
1 TBSP White Sugar
1 Clove Minced Garlic
¼ TSP Pepper
1 TSP Salt
2 Bay Leaves
DIRECTIONS
This recipe has a lot of wiggle room for customizing your pickled red cabbage! Add a little bit of jalapeño, ginger, lime zest(my favorite)….or any spices & herbs you love!
Once the cabbage is shredded, add all the ingredients into a jar. Shake well. Then, cover with a dish rag and let it sit on your counter for 6-10 hours.

TRADER JOE’S CARNE ASADA TACOS with PICKLED CABBAGE
INGREDIENTS:
1 package Corn & Wheat Tortilla’s (try them!)
1 package of pre-marinated Carne Asada
Avocado
Limes
Cilantro
DIRECTIONS:
Pre-heat your grill or grill pan. Once heated add your carne asada. Now this meat is sliced thin, so it cooks quick! I like mine slightly pink so -4-5 mins per side is all. While the meat is cooking on the front half, add a couple tortillas to the back and heat, about 45 secs per side. Once the meat it done remove and let rest on a cutting board, about 5 mins. Slice nice and thin! It’s that simple! Assemble your tacos and add TJ’s Cilantro Dressing a squeeze of lime, some chopped cilantro and avocado. Enjoy!
