Teen Talk: Best Hair Dye & Favorite Mascara

Best Hair Dye: Avery

If you’ve been following my mom for a while now you know I love to change my hair color. From slight tints of pink to a full head of vibrant purples, I’m no stranger to color. With all of the questions we’ve gotten lately, I decided to help you all out and round up some of my favorite semi-permanent dyes for all of you looking for a fun change that won’t last forever or break the bank.

Lime Crime- $16 per 6.29 oz bottle

My most recent hair dye is the Lime Crime semi permanent dyes. These vegan, cruelty free dyes come in both tints for those of you who want a more subtle color and full coverage dyes for a brighter effect. I recommend tints only for people with blonde to light brown hair because they won’t show up as well on darker hair. For those of you with darker hair colors, they also have a color range suited for you.

Color Favorites: Bubblegum Rose, Charcoal, and Chocolate Cherry

Arctic Fox- $16.99 per 8 oz bottle

These semi permanent dyes have been known for being some of the best for years, and for good reason. Arctic Fox has a wide variety of dyes from dark blues to neon yellows and every color in between. They even have UV reactant dyes that change color under UV light and their own bleach kit for anyone looking to take the big step and have the most vibrant colors.  The formula is vegan and not tested on animals, making it better for our environment. Like most dyes, Arctic Fox dyes are more suited for pre-lightened hair but they also work well for a fun tint on slightly darker hair.

Color Favorites: Virgin Pink and Purple Rain

L’Oreal Colorista- $10.99 per 5 oz bottle

When it comes to drugstore dyes, these Loreal Colorista dyes win by a landslide. They come in 11 different colors, 7 formulated for blondes and 4 for brown hair, so there is some range to mix and match to find your perfect color. These dyes can be found at most convenience stores such as Walmart and Target and are super easy to use. Unlike other dyes, Loreal has a formula similar to a conditioning mask to ensure that dying your hair doesn’t actually kill it.

Color Favorites: Maroon and Hot Pink

Favorite Mascara: Poppy

These are my top five mascaras! Keep in mind that I also use the L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Base as a primer.

Lancome Grandiôse Extreme Mascara

This mascara is the most amazing mascara you will ever use. I am very picky when it comes to formulas because I have always lie my lashes a particular way and this mascara gives me everything I need. This mascara has a bit of a shorter wand which is really nice for getting in the corners and really coating every lash. I recommend this product to everyone but specifically those who like the look of longer lashes.

It Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascar

This mascara has a bit of a thicker formula which gives you more of the false eyelash look. The superhero mascara was my #1 holy grail for the longest time and still remains one of my favorites. I recommend this mascara to anyone who prefers the look of super thick and voluminous lashes.

Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara

This mascara is extremely dark and pigmented but could also be perfect for an everyday look. This mascara is very comparable to the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara but it does not clump as much which is really nice. I reach for this mascara a lot when I am wearing a little more makeup than usual or for any special occasion.

YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils, The Curler

This mascara holds the curl of your lashes and adds a ton of volume without being clumpy. My favorite part of this product would have to be the wand, it is curved perfectly so it can get every eyelash in just one swoop. I first discovered this mascara in a travel kit from Sephora and immediately fell in love with it, I will definitely be purchasing it again.

Maybelline Great Lash

This mascara is meant to create the look of fuller and longer lashes with its extremely buildable formula. This was the first mascara I wore and it still remains one of my favorites. Over the years I have come across other mascaras that I prefer to use on my top lashes to give a more dramatic look but I still use this mascara on my bottom lashes every day because it is easily buildable, does not clump and can be very subtle if you apply it correctly which is exactly what I need when it comes to my bottom lashes. I recommend this mascara to anyone who is just starting to get into makeup for anyone who likes their lashes more subtle and natural.
